Attention: Hotel, Inn, Rental, and Short-Term Rental Owners

TRI-TOWN HEALTH DEPARTMENT

Lee - Lenox – Stockbridge

April 1, 2020

Dear Hotel, Inn, Rental, and Short-Term Rental Owners,

As you are aware, on March 26, 2020, this office sent you an advisory letter requesting renters to not accept any new bookings in hope to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Subsequently on March 31, 2020, Governor Baker signed into effect new orders now restricting use of occupancy as described in the Order which is a requirement.

Governor Baker's order

Governor Baker's guidance

Please read Governor Baker's guidance that all of you must comply with effective on April 1, 2020 at 12:00 PM with an expiration on May 4,, 2020 at 12:00 PM.  Please be strongly advised that non-compliance with this Executive order may result in action taken by local officials.

As we stated in our previous advisory, if people are coming into our towns that are travelling from certain areas, we will require a 14-day quarantine of those people.

In addition, if a resident is found to test positive for COVID-19 who is residing at one of your properties, there will be a mandatory Isolation order issued by the local board of health and occupants will be unable to leave until they are medically cleared (which could be longer than 14 days) regardless of their commitment on your booking. More importantly, people traveling into the Berkshires from out of the area may be unaware and could further aid in the spread of the virus. In certain cases, the local board of health may require additional actions to prevent further spread that may include a comprehensive sanitizing and disinfection of the property at your expense.

For more information on COVID-19 Please visit the following link https://www.mass.gov/resource/information-on-the-outbreak-of-coronavirus... to access up to date information on COVID-19 as well as resources needed.

PRACTICE social distancing, WASH hands with soap and water, FOLLOW all Commonwealth of Massachusetts Emergency orders, ISOLATE at home as much as possible, and STAY at home if you are sick.

Thank you for your timely and important cooperation on this matter.

Respectfully,

James J. Wilusz, R.S. Executive Director of Public Health/Registered Sanitarian Tri-Town Health Department Lee, Lenox, and Stockbridge Boards of Health
