The Town of Lenox is seeking qualified, intrinsically motivated candidates for the positions of a Wastewater/Highway Laborer with the Lenox Department of Public Works. This position performs a wide variety of skilled work in the maintenance of a municipal wastewater treatment system. Also performs a variety of semi-skilled laboring work in the maintenance and construction of public works. Work requires knowledge of the operation of tools necessary for water, sewer, highway, and grounds keeping. Will be available for snow plowing and to assist at main breaks at all hours. Will be required to be on call for a week at a time on a rotating schedule. This position will be part of the Lenox Teamsters Local 404 Union.
Lenox is located in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. The year-round population of 5,025 is buttressed by a substantial number of weekend/seasonal residents and visitors, particularly in July and August. Widely known for its numerous cultural and recreational sites (notably Tanglewood, Shakespeare & Company, Kennedy Park, Mass Audubon/Pleasant Valley), Lenox is also home to vibrant, deep-rooted communities in villages located in its downtown, Lenox Dale, New Lenox as well as many smaller neighborhoods.
