Town Accountant

Responsibilities

The Town Accountant’s Office manages the Town’s internal and external financial reporting function. This includes preparing payroll and expenditure warrants, along with examining all bills and payrolls for compliance with approved appropriations and contracts. The Town Accountant is responsible for reconciling cash and accounts receivable balances with the Town Treasurer and Town Collector.

Maintaining timely and accurate accounting records enables the Town to issue financial reports for both internal and external use, including the preparation of state reports. Coordination of the annual financial and compliance audit with the independent auditors is an additional responsibility of the Office. The Town Accountant also assists the Town Manager with the preparation of the annual Town budget.
