Minutes of the March 5, 2003 meeting were reviewed and signed by all members.
A brief discussion was held about the growing SARS epidemic and the need to disseminate proper information relative to symptoms and treatment. It was agreed that some type of notice should be put on the Board’s web site with a link to other sites such as Massachusetts Department of Public Health or the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta.
It was noted that M. Feder and J. Kellogg had signed the definitive subdivision plan for the Pinecroft Subdivision which had been approved previously by the Board and the Tri-Town Health Department.
The Board reviewed a letter from Peter Kolodiej of the Tri-Town Health Department regarding recent compliance checks at which tobacco products were sold to a youth under 18 years old by O’Brien’s Market and Lenox News and Variety. On a motion by M. Feder, seconded by J. Kellogg, the Board voted 3-0 to assess a fine of $100 to each establishment for the violations.
M. Feder reminded the Board that a vote would be taken on new smoking regulations at the Tri-Town Health meeting scheduled for April 15, 2003. She also announced that Sue Kaufman from the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association would be attending the Board’s next meeting on May 7th.
A brief discussion was held about the recent meeting between M. Feder, J. Kellogg, Jamie Cahillane of CET and Town Manager Gregory Federspiel. J. Kellogg said he would be preparing a letter for the Board’s signatures to the Town Manager, memorializing the agreements made relative to the establishment of a Recycling Committee and issues involving unauthorized expenditures from the Board’s budget.
