The five elected Selectmen serve as the Town’s chief governing board. They set the policies of the Town and ultimately are responsible to the voters for ensuring the proper functioning of municipal operations. The Board reviews and approves all contracts and appointments. Typically meeting twice a month, the Selectmen work closely with the Town Manager as they make decisions that set the course of action for municipal services.
At the Annual Town Meeting in May voters decide on the Selectmen’s recommended budget for the upcoming fiscal year and vote for the new terms of office – every year at least one Selectman position is on the annual ballot.
