SELECTMEN GOALS and OBJECTIVES
Personnel: Cultivate a stronger culture of excellence, teamwork and high morale among staff.
Assess employee attitudes and perspective on their work environment and management with the aid of an HR specialist; respond to findings
Actively seek out employee suggestions for efficiencies including the hosting of monthly coffee hours and active solicitation of guidance during the budget process
Have the Town Manager make the rounds more frequently to all departments
Finances: Implement efficiencies in the delivery of municipal services and maintain the Town’s sound fiscal condition while minimizing tax burdens
Support the efforts and review the recommendations of the FAC
Continue to build on collaborative efforts with the School Committee
Target a maximum of a 2 ? % tax burden increase for the FY08 budget
Growth Management: Preserve and enhance the historic rural New England character of the town while allowing for moderate growth and providing for the needs of a diverse population.
Support the efforts and review the recommendations of the Affordable Housing Task Force
Promote the adoption of Smart Growth tools
Implement the new Open Space plan/map
Infrastructure: Maintain and expand critical municipal infrastructure that keeps pace with increased demands.
Secure additional new water supply within next 2-3 years
Adopt a new 5 year capital plan, including the use of new bonding, more tax revenues and more local receipts
Sign a new Sewer Agreement with Pittsfield by early 2007
Public Outreach: Keep the citizenry informed and involved in the issues and challenges facing the community.
Publish a monthly web newsletter
Write press releases after each Selectmen’s meeting
